Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

...are we thinking Vane was involved in all three of these? His own death, Danny's death, now Ponta's too?

I kind of wonder if they tried to have a party night, and then it ended in murder. All three of them, I mean. There were the three cups, and the three laser tag things...

...so, what, then - they all stuck together and an unrelated fourth person came in and killed them...?

I know that seems really unlikely.

I mean. Like. [rubs her face.] Okay, is it totally wild to think Ponta used the drum on Vane to make him kill Danny, killed Vane, and then someone found Ponta and murdered him?

It did say the Bottlecap Bestie wanted to fulfill a quota.

[she is really not trying to like, cast any negative light on ponta or anything, it's just like WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED]

...he wouldn't do that. That's not... he wouldn't. He wouldn't force Vane to kill Danny like that. And he wouldn't kill Vane himself.

I guess - in that case, then... Maybe. Can the moon actually possess people? Or is whoever wrote those notes just messing with us?

I don't know, we - don't know if the statements are all lies or not.

It's just something to keep in mind, I guess. [...] We can't always trust that someone wouldn't have killed someone just because we wanted to trust they wouldn't.

... What if someone used it on him, then? Ponta.

It's interesting. He and I had a conversation last week about the quota, and he told me in no fewer words that he wanted to wait to find every possible opportunity not to kill. He and I were both attempting to find ways to debunk the quota note, or at least to verify its origin beyond what we already had.

...yeah, I - we had a similar conversation. Anything he did would have been an absolute last resort, if there were no other options that he found.

So I have a hard time imagining him forcing Vane to kill Danny and then killing Vane himself. But if someone used it on him maybe that would change things somehow. I'm just not sure how the logistics of it all would work.

... Only if the evidence points to it, but we ought not eliminate any possibility until then.

Whether they were knowingly connected is a different story; after all, Kogitsunemaru last week said he never saw hide or hair of what may have happened to Albedo, and we've seen cases cross over before.

To have it cross over thrice is unusual, but so too is a set of three cases.

I've been thinking about this. That there were three of them, and how that seemed unusual unless they were all connected somehow. Otherwise that's a lot of people to suddenly all be awake and not run into each other on accident.

...it does seem. Pretty weird, yeah. I know it's a big city but there were only six places for us to check...

I think our problem right now too is we don't know a real timeline. We're not sure who died first. [ grumbling under his breath: ] Although if I had my powers, I could help with that.

The lack of different places and the overlap we have found is almost evidence in and of itself.

I just... I don't get it. I still don't get why so many of them are dead.

I wish I had an answer. This was so excessive, especially if Vane was connected to all three.

Yes - and we've evidence of three in a few places. Nimona's theory about a potential party together could be possible, particularly when we consider the aforementioned quota.

I suppose we will need to investigate Ponta's body to begin to put together a timeline and try and lay this theory out in its possibilities.

I agree that's a distinct possibility. For all we know, a party started together, hit betray on each other, and then...that was that. I doubt anyone would expect it to backfire that badly.
