Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

How's hangman going?

Okay, so I don't need to mention the big thing we found on the side of the warehouse. We've all seen that.

I got the lock on the door open and we found a walkie talkie inside. I'm gonna test it against the one we found and see if they're connected, but if they are that means the warehouse and the range are connected too. Datz found some paper taped to the door of one of the cupboards, which said "A witness claims to have overheard a female-sounding voice say, "I'll get my revenge with my bare hands!".

When looking in the trash, we found a can of black spray paint and another crumpled note that said "The tallest person and the shortest person are known for their self-control." Both the notes were typed.

Uhhh, a prinny gave us a compass as we left, but I don't know how relevant that is now. But, just in case it turns out to be super special for solving the case... I'm mentioning it.

dammit. you can't brute force a letter lock in the same way you can a number lock -- shooting the lock won't do anything either.

there's nothing around that could be a clue for what the code is...?

Perhaps its connected to the puzzle.
If so then the last word of the puzzle would be five letters.

I found a card. "Weaponised Soft Drink". Don't know that that helps me figure out the lock combo though.

...the notes seem. Weird. [his brow furrows] But didn't someone find a card about "bare hands"?

Yes - and one with revenge, too, if I recall correctly. A female voice would be "Diva", no?

I guess so...? That'd make sense.

You think they're connected? Like... the woman's talking about getting revenge with her bare hands. If we have a bare hands card, do we have a female card and then does that mean we should group them together?

[stunwhistle]

That's how logic puzzles work, so... maybe? ...but this is an actual murder, not a game. So.

[he shrugs uselessly.]

If it's mean to be a clue, maybe that's what we need to be doing. Figuring it out.

Why so many puzzles, all of a sudden...?

...Saya mentioned a puzzle curse. But, it wasn't on the list we got at the start of the trial.

A puzzle curse making people put down puzzles during a murder is... a lot.

[ You think someone would DO that? Put a game inside of our game? ]

[someone'd have to be a real sociopath to do that...]

The... the tallest and shortest people alive, as a whole, or from that card game puzzle that Mr. Ryuki was putting together for us to solve..?

Good question... but if it's referenced on the card, it can't be referencing everyone, or we'd all have a card for the purpose of solving the logic puzzle.

If it's as a whole, it'd be Ms. Nico and Rocket. If it's everyone alive, it'd be Ms. Nico and Rita.

But if it's the logic puzzle and cards... the Artiste and the Diva.

Robin does seem pretty collected.... I'm not sure about Rocket. [ ................ Or Rita ]

[ the look on his face says that neither rocket nor rita are collected people, and they're his teammates. ]
