Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

armor is undamaged, beyond the usual wear and tear you'd expect from armor. ]

[ alrighty. so, starting from the head and neck then - he'll check over his head for any bumps or bruises, first, then check vane's eyes, inside of his mouth, and move his head from side to side if he can, carefully looking for any signs of stress, discoloration, or strangeness. otherwise, let's look at the neck.

what sort of injury is here? ]

[ there's a bump on the right side of vane's head. there is some blood in his hair and behind his ears.

his eyes look normal. inside the mouth, he's missing a tooth. no obvious discolorations or anything weird.

as for the neck, it's a slash wound across the throat! the blood really went everywhere, huh? it's all down the front of his shirt. looks like that's where the blood in his hair might've come from, too. ]

[ wait what. the blood in his hair is from his neck?? does vane have princess ponytail hair or is it like. a splatter? or is it from laying in a puddle of blood.

what tooth is missing like - you dont have to give me specifics, but it is it front tooth vs like a molar or is it just A Tooth (murder doc voice).

is the bump on his head big? is it on the back, or on the side? is the blood behind his ears dripped downwards or is it smeared (ie: from laying in blood).

does the slash wound go all the way across? is it deep or shallow? does it carry on past the front of the throat to the sides of his neck at all? is there any burn damage or is it just a cut? also, is there anything he can feel on the back of the neck? ]

[ that's what the doc says... it's from lying down and the blood just seeping down. i am making this decision now it's the only way this makes sense.

anyway i do have a specific tooth for some reason! it's the first premolar.

it is a small bump on his head. it's not a lot of blood in his hair or behind the ears so assume it's just drips.

the slash goes all the way across the front of his throat, but not too far into the sides. it looks fairly deep. nothing on the back of the neck. ]

and was the bump on the back or on the side? just for future reference. otherwise, he'll check out that stomach source of blood? where does it look like it's coming from in terms of injury? are there corresponding tears in clothing or is it just bloody like blood seeped through from an injury? ]

[ the bump is on the right side of his head.

the other source of blood appears to be a stab wound in the gut! and yes there's a corresponding cut in his clothing.

there is a lot of blood going down toward his lap, but it looks like it might have come from the neck wound as well as this stab. hard to tell when it all bled together like that. ]

[ boy this is not inducing trauma flashbacks or anything

anyway okay. cool. that's fine. about how big is the stab wound? does it go all the way through as far as he can tell? is it just one quick stab wound vs like, several and or someone digging a knife in and wiggling it or something? ]

it is just the one stab, fairly small, and does not go all the way through his body. looks like a clean wound. ]

can he compare the knife that nico turned in to evidence to this stab wound? very, very carefully. ]

ok neat. let's go ahead and remove his clothes. he mutters something under his breath that is either a joke or a prayer, it's hard to say, but he will carefully remove them, shaking them out for any traces of like. glitter or sand or anything weird. is the back of his shirt also bloody?

otherwise, are there any injuries or marks on his arms? what about his hands? any blood on those, or under the nails? damage to the nails? just doing a thorough check of those guns (metaphorical) ]

[ the back of his shirt can also be a bit bloody, sure. it's not in the doc though so don't mind palace too hard about that.

vane would be shaking to know his virgin body has been bared to the world... too bad he's dead and doesn't get a say. anyway, there are tons of scars all over his arms, hands, abdomen, and leggies. the vast majority of these look naturally aged and have always been here since game start.

there are two bruises on his right shoulder and arm.

he had gloves on, so tem will have noticed those were pretty bloody as well! but his skin seems clear, and there is no damage to the nails. ]

what kind of bruises? are they big, small? he can compare them to his hand for size. are the two bruises connected, or far apart? do they look fresh?

how big are they in comparison to, say, the bump on his head? ]

[ relatively small bruises, maybe around the size of a nickle or so. they look fresh! one is on his shoulder, one on the arm, so they aren't connected.

they are smaller than the bump on his head. ]

[ where on the arm or is it just (murder doc voice) arm. and you said it's on the right? do either of these bruises match the top of the knife from the elevator? same with the head bump.

mmkay. other damage to the torso beyond the stab wounds? are there any defensive wounds or anything on the underside of his arm?

otherwise, moving on. is there anything else of note on the upper front half of his body? ]

[ (murder doc voice) arm. right arm, yes. the bruises don't match the knife, neither does the bump on vane's head.

no other wounds on his torso, and none defensive or on the underside of his arms. nothing else of note on the upper half. ]

[ moving on then!!! he'll check the little. his shirt has little dangly things on it that are longer? i'm traumatized from redacted. checking those over for any damage.

beyond that! sorry vane time to take off your pants. he'll check for blood, rips, etc first before looking for injuries, discoloration, breaks, bruises, etc on his thighs and anything under the armor. he'll also check the inside of the armor itself, like if something slipped between his leg and the plate.


and check the bottom of the boots for any dirt or scuffs or anything weird! ]

[ there's some blood smeared on the dangly bits, and it looks like they may have been stepped on slightly. it could drag on the ground though don't mind palace too hard about this either.

pants off! his inventory is in there but we can come back to that because i assume tem isn't going to let it all fall on the floor. anyway there might be some blood dribbled down from the stab wound, but not too much. there are the same sort of naturally healed scars on his legs, but no apparent wounds.

nothing on the inside of the armor.

vane's inventory is:
- two bracelets. the second one is missing a charm.
- phone, in an aquamarine fox phone case. looks like there might be something inside the case?
- a broken seashell. ]

[ the second one being the butterfly one? obvs we dont know the shapes but just making sure. checking my pocket check notes from last week, are these the same ones from last pocket check?

also what's up with the seashell. how "broken" is broken, is it like broken in half. is there anything inside of it.

also is there any blood or anything on any of these objects. ]

[ "the second one" being the seashell-style bracelet. so he has the blue woven bracelet and one seashell bracelet that's missing a charm, but it isn't necessarily a butterfly charm. they should be the same bracelets from last pocket check.

if he opens up the case, it's a bunch of trading cards! 1, 2 x3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. i regret making these now that i have to link them all individually like this, nyeh.

the shell is broken in half, with the other half apparently missing. there is nothing inside it.

there is some blood on everything considering they were in his pockets and there's, like, a metric fuckton of blood from this man. except the cards. those were protected by the phone case. ]

set the cards back except he'll take out the mika one. sorry vane you're dead there's a child who wants this he thinks you'd approve.

anyway!!! okay. neat. he'll take those items and turn them into evidence.

otherwise, if someone will help him he'll turn him over to check his back. any strange injuries - bruises, marks, anything that looks odd or out of place on his back? stabs? more spots? ]

nothing looks out of place on vane's back! there are probably traces of blood from being in a blool but that's about it. ]
