Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

I kind of wonder if they tried to have a party night, and then it ended in murder. All three of them, I mean. There were the three cups, and the three laser tag things...

I know that seems really unlikely.

I mean. Like. [rubs her face.] Okay, is it totally wild to think Ponta used the drum on Vane to make him kill Danny, killed Vane, and then someone found Ponta and murdered him?

It did say the Bottlecap Bestie wanted to fulfill a quota.

[she is really not trying to like, cast any negative light on ponta or anything, it's just like WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED]

[stunwhistle]

[he shakes his head]

...he wouldn't do that. That's not... he wouldn't. He wouldn't force Vane to kill Danny like that. And he wouldn't kill Vane himself.

[sharkgirl]

"The person with a convenient gun was either possessed by the moon or suffering from a loss of control." And there was a gun with orange smell on it.

[but. will knows them better, so.]

[stunwhistle]

[he flinches a little at that.]

I guess - in that case, then... Maybe. Can the moon actually possess people? Or is whoever wrote those notes just messing with us?

I don't know, we - don't know if the statements are all lies or not.

It's just something to keep in mind, I guess. [...] We can't always trust that someone wouldn't have killed someone just because we wanted to trust they wouldn't.

[stunwhistle]

...no, I know, but he... we'd talked about it. If he did anything he wanted it to be an absolute last resort.

With three bodies, it doesn't... it just doesn't feel like that. That's all.

[sharkgirl]

[looks at him for a long minute.]

Kay.

[stunwhistle]

[he looks down.]

[sharkgirl]

You remember what we talked about yesterday.

[stunwhistle]

[quietly:]

I remember.

Cool.

[fucking flicks his nose as hard as she can and goes off to invest with temenos]

[stunwhistle]

[he rubs at his nose as she leaves]

... What if someone used it on him, then? Ponta.

It's interesting. He and I had a conversation last week about the quota, and he told me in no fewer words that he wanted to wait to find every possible opportunity not to kill. He and I were both attempting to find ways to debunk the quota note, or at least to verify its origin beyond what we already had.

[stunwhistle]

...yeah, I - we had a similar conversation. Anything he did would have been an absolute last resort, if there were no other options that he found.

So I have a hard time imagining him forcing Vane to kill Danny and then killing Vane himself. But if someone used it on him maybe that would change things somehow. I'm just not sure how the logistics of it all would work.

[inquired]

Indeed. Even so - there is likely a fourth person we will need to find. We will just have to see what the evidence holds. It's still quite early.

[stunwhistle]

[he nods]

...yeah. We need to keep looking.

Not really a nice thought, but we might as well consider it.
