Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

BODY RESULTS: DANNY

[she's pushed ace's hat back to sit on her head so it's out of the way. it's important to also note that she's wearing a grey suit jacket that maybe has a couple of rips in it from her wearing it a lot. (lowe voice) you're covered in dead friend accessories

she gestures with her bandaged hand.]

So Danny was wearing goth clothes. I think he might have been wearing those on the beach last night, and I think I heard about sand somewhere? So that might be connected.

... Um. [she rubs at her face, and then:] He was crying. His eyes were puffy and there were tear tracks on his face. He had a huge cut through his torso, it like... the arm was removed just below the shoulder, but also at an angle. Higher on the outside of his arm, lower the closer it got to his body. That wound went kind of like a continuation across his chest diagonally, and then there was a second one across his stomach.

The wounds were really deep, like someone hit really hard to cause them. And Vane's axe might have been a good match for those wounds but I didn't check anything else, I just... had a suspicion, I guess. We should double check that with other weapons if we find them.

His phone also was unlocked and had a picture of Tiger with tiger paws instead of hands, holding a blunt and also frowning at the picture-taker. The Tiger one was taken on Sunday sometime after execution but before the dead talked to us, so maybe not important. There's also one of a remedy bottle on a windowsill. That's in his room, at Tiger dorm. It was taken our third week here on a Wednesday, but... it was still there the last time I saw it, which I think was... Sunday?

And also there was a note in his notes app that said "Hope this helps. Pink perfume sampler." That one makes you want to kiss or hug the first person you see for 24 hours.

I don't know if this is true but my current theory is someone used the drum item to make Vane kill Danny, and then got rid of Vane afterward. I guess don't get stuck on that, but.

Vane's ax had blood on the blade and the handle, so...definitely should be checking on that sooner than later. But that seems...excessive? [ they both kind of do, jeez. ] Why do you think he had a photo of a remedy bottle?

And...does that mean he cursed somebody before he died? Or somebody was cursed?

Considering he flipped whoever did it off and was crying I'm willing to bet he wasn't like, happy about it, so. Yeah, I could see him cursing them.

... I don't know why he had that photo. Do you think it's still there? I guess I can ask if I can go look, but I don't know if I can get into his room.

I mean I don't blame him. [ he's thinking a lot of things and doesn't want to delve into it, but hm. ]

...might be. His room wasn't locked or anything when I was there and I doubt he would've thought to lock it. It might not hurt just to go and see?

I can try. I don't know if it even matters, he might have just not taken a lot of pictures.

[resumed]

Did you check his deleted folder to make sure there wasn't anything else there? I mean I doubt it but...[ he shrugs. ] I'm starting to wonder if the remedy was really just a remedy after all.

I checked his outbox, but I guess I didn't look at the deleted stuff.

...the drum, I guess - that makes sense. Since a drum was found. And I can't imagine Vane ever doing that to Danny on his own.

... Yeah, sure thing. [she just seems tired.]

I don't think Vane would've killed Danny on his own, even if it... you know, was for a reason. He was way too goody-two shoes for that. So maybe someone made him do it.

But like I said, don't get stuck on the idea, because it might have made Danny do something, too. We don't know who it was used on or if it was used.

[stunwhistle]

...yeah. We don't know. We do know it got used as some point during the week, but... it could've been earlier, if someone was doing a prank.

But I'd assume Thursday since it got found. [his brow furrows] ...although I guess we could try using it on someone now to see if it still works.

...okay, but you gotta tell me what you want the command to be first.

[since he doesn't want to make her do something she doesn't want to do if it turns out the drum wasn't used before now.]

...Thanks for checking all that. Would've been a logical thing to use the drum for, I guess.

[yeah smoke is pretty consistently coming out of her mouth at this point btu she's ignoring it.]

I think what might have happened is... maybe Danny and Vane were in the konbini? The shelves were heavy that were blockading the door, Vane was really strong, so he could've pushed them. And then someone broke into the konbini and used the drum to make Vane kill him? And then they killed Vane... somehow, maybe they made him slit his own throat or something, and carried him in the shopping cart to Fox dorm.

... Just guessing. This might all not be even close.

Does the drum thing do multiple commands or just one?

I've got one and the instructions say, um.

"Forces one person to follow a command for 1 hour or until the command is fulfilled." So I guess it depends on how complicated the command can be.

Huh... Wonder if you can game it with a "wishing for more wishes" type of thing... like, commanding them to obey everything you tell them to do for the next hour. Probably not since that'd be a pretty big loophole, but. Yeah, maybe if you can just combine a few things into a single one-sentence command...?

... Like I said, I have one, so I guess we can test it if you want to. To see the limits.

You think he left that as a clue...? But if he was attacked by Vane, and used it on Vane then--

[ vane is dead :( ]

... Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what happened. But I'm sure it was supposed to be a hint.

Yeah, it probably was. I wonder if someone was using Vane to kill Danny, they were also there... he might've been able to use the curse on them rather than Vane.

... Maybe. I hope so.

Just, you know - it... [she gestures for tama to come down so she can whisper]

[ballies]

[ she nods. ]

Yeah. I mean... [ she waves a hand, sadly. ] I wish it wasn't like this though.

[sharkgirl]

Yeah. Me too.
