Rise and shine. The sirens that filled the streets on Friday have died down, allowing you to spend the morning peacefully despite the news. It isn't until 11 AM that an alarm goes off on everyone's phone, citing a reminder for the trial taking place at the courthouse at noon. It turns off soon, but pops back up every ten minutes to ensure that you don't forget.

Shortly before 12 PM, all heroes feel a compulsion to head to the courthouse, where the staff direct you to one of the courtrooms reserved for the day's events. Attendance is mandatory, it seems, and once everyone has arrived, the doors close and lock behind them.

Yesterday's investigation was only the beginning. The real work begins now.

Welcome to your week one trial! Over the next nine hours, characters will have the chance to investigate, and theorize about the murders, as well as examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations with NPC permission. As you gather evidence and discuss, we encourage you to revisit the investigation post to refamiliarize yourselves with the events of Friday morning.

There will be a mod-tag break between 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST to 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

To vote for a culprit, head over to the voting page! Voting is mandatory in this game, so please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST.

...all I can think is that whoever killed Vane wasn't a Fox, because all of the evidence stopped as far as a non-Fox could get without a dorm key. That's a start.

That makes sense. And whoever killed him was... probably the one that used the drum...? So he wouldn't be able to tell us about it?

Yeah. Do you...is it possible the drum could be used on more than one person? Like if the command was "both of you will obey me." I guess that's not necessary if they only needed to command Vane to kill and then get himself in the cart, but it was a thought I had. The random stab to Rabbit's cut-out also is confusing, but that might've just been collateral damage?

...I think it'd probably only be one person. If it affected two people that'd be kind of overpowered, wouldn't it?

True. [ still combing through will's curls like he's petting a cat. ] It's...an hour under influence or until the command's met, right? I'm trying to think of what command might've been given that would even allow them enough leeway to have him kill Danny and then turn around to get killed.

[stunwhistle]

...I can't think of any. Like - even if the command had been "kill him"... he'd have been free of it after he was dead or after an hour. He'd fight back after that. Wouldn't he?

...depends. Would he have felt guilty about killing Danny after the effect wore off and willingly face punishment or anything?

[stunwhistle]

I... think he would've felt really guilty about it, yeah. But he also probably would have said someone controlled him, if he knew who it was.

[resumed]

...[ frowning suddenly. ]

I'm thinking about the fact Danny was upset, too. I can't...entirely think of who would have caused that kind of reaction from him.

I'm not entirely sure.

I'm lost. On all of it. I have no idea what we're supposed to even do now.

We still have some time left. I'm just...thinking of what else we might've missed, or something else we didn't check, or if there's anything we can use to narrow it down further.

...there's gotta be something we can do to figure out what happened with Danny and Vane, right...?

I'm thinking, I'm trying. [ what the fuck are they missing ahhhhh. ] It's that stupid footprint that came back inconclusive. I think...Jolyne and I have our kit still, we could use it to print the shopping cart and one person. But I have no idea who that person would even be.

I still have the inkpad and notepad. Save your fingerprinting kit and have everyone print in their prints with ink instead.

[ His sad-ass inkpad with only Lillium and Kogitsunemaru in it. ]

Oh. [ oh my god? ] Can we...do we have time for that?

Ugh, yeah, that's the problem... damn printing kit's only so useful if we have more than two prints... fuck.

Well if what Ryuki's saying is true, we can pull a print from the cart with our kit and use his inkpad fingerprints for comparing everybody. We just have to hurry if that's what we're doing.

...Is it impossible to consider that they really were going to try to spend the night having a good time, but the moon possessed one of them halfway through the night?

I don't think that's impossible, but it doesn't explain how Vane got put in a shopping cart and brought to fox dorm after.

...yeah. It doesn't explain that at all.

[ Someone really casually said he must've been texting in the cart and the idea of him being all bloody and dying and just texting up all his friend notes while dying in a shopping cart being sent to Fox Dorm still is killing me like six hours later. ]

... I think that the loss of control is more likely than possession by the moon. We've never even heard of that happening up to this point - and we've had several cases where people felt they had to kill, but it was because of outside pressure. Or, a coercive item was involved.

...yeah, I don't... I don't think any of us are really in control of what's going on here. I don't think we ever have been.
