Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your weekly investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

[Not a lot, just some blood. The shopping carts have holes in them, it's not like blood can pool up.

It definitely looks more drag-like. Also while inspecting the blood, he will find, closer to the elevator, a couple footprints. He can call for the elevator too, yes.]

[is it in the big center part of the shopping cart? or in the little part of the cart where a kid can sit?]

[ he will take a picture of these footprints and then he's going to try to compare. can he get a size gauge based on this? does the blood seem to peter out at all as it gets closer to the elevator from the sitting area or is it pretty consistent?

okay. he hits the button with a claw so he doesn't leave prints and waits for the elevator to come. is there anything inside? ]

[It's in the big part of the shopping cart.

The blood seems to be pretty consistent. If Nico uses his foot to gauge, there are two footprint sizes: one set smaller than his, and one set larger.

The elevator comes down slowly, but eventually it reaches the floor with a ding. The door slides open and there on the floor of the elevator is a body.]

[ok! it seems there is nothing left to see here so will goes inside to join nico just in time for the elevator to come down

his eyes widen in shock and he clutches nico's hand tightly]

[ that's cool.

is this a real body. is this a fake skeleton. mods say psych. anyway he will let will take his hand but he's also checking. who is the body? also what is the state of the elevator? is it bloody, etc? ]

[It's a real body, laying down on the floor of the elevator face-up. It looks like there's even something under their head, acting as a cushion of sorts. It wouldn't be surprising if someone mistook this person for being asleep.

But as the two of them get closer and actually check, they will see that there is too much blood and too little breathing for this person to be alive.

Vane is dead.]

[the word comes out in a choked gasp, and will grips nico's hand probably painfully tightly.]

How is he - why is he...?

Oh shit... [ just. very softly. he doesn't flinch from the tighter grip and he doesn't let go, but he does try to step forward and dislodge whatever is under vane's head after taking another photo of the area. can he grab it? ]

[He can take photos and grab the thing. It will need to be investigated closer at trial but it appears to be a lot of black fabric folded up into a pillow.

Also next to Vane's body is a bloody knife, with the handle close to Vane's hand.]

he breathes out and pulls the sleeve of his hoodie down over his hand so that he can pick up the knife with it very carefully without leaving fingerprints i guess.

but he's shaking.]

[ he is gonna grab the fabric and not examine it with his eyes. it's okay. he squeezes will's hand tighter. ]

Breathe. We'll figure this out. [ a reminder. is the blood mostly on the floor around vane? is there any like on the walls or ceiling or anything? ]

[Will can have the knife and leave no fingerprints.

Nico looks around and sees no blood on the walls or ceiling. This elevator is small though, there might be more out in the lobby.]

But...

[god. okay! okay... he breathes. he's. staring at the elevator.]

...should. Should we take it up? In case there's anything up there?

[ ...sigh. ]

The only way someone could get up is if they're a Fox, right? Let's do another sweep of the lobby and then head up.

[ can he start pulling will with him? he is going to see if he can trace where the footprints started from and also check furniture, etc. we will come back to the elevator. ]

[Doing a sweep of the lobby ends up being a good idea, because they will find an ax on one of the couches in the lobby.]

[will is tugged along. he stares blankly at the ax. does it look like the one vane carries? he sees it all the time because they are teammates.

anyway, he will check the area around the couch too, as well as the couch itself. anything on the floor? any damage, stains, etc to the couch? anything under the cushions or under the couch?]

[ he can't do much because he refuses to let go of will's hand right now so he's checking the other parts of the lobby around the door or windows etc. ]

[It will have to be investigated further at trial to know for sure, but it could be.

Nothing around the couches, under the cushions, or under the couch. The only thing around the couch is the same blood trail Nico found earlier.

There is nothing else around the door or windows of the lobby either, you two are clear to go upstairs if you want.]

[well. okay. once they run out of things to look at down here will heads back to the elevator with nico and will do what he has to in order to let them up since. he is a fox.

i guess they're just chilling in this elevator with vane's corpse.]

[ yup. corpse ride, let's go. when the elevator opens on the next floor what immediately stands out? ]

[Imagine if Vane grabbed Will's leg right now. I mean, it's not happening, but imagine.

There is nothing off about the second floor at all. That's it that's what they needed to see: that whatever happened was contained to the first floor + elevator.

Other than that, they have found all the evidence they can here. And got to ride in an elevator with a corpse.]
