Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your weekly investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

there is nothing on the back of the standees or in the knockoff merch. nothing down the first aisle, either. ]

ok, so... tama will go and check over behind the counter, and any shelves around that counter too. anything out of the ordinary here? ]

[ he will keep going through the aisles, checking shelves and dvd/vhs cases, the ceiling, whatever merch there is. i do not know the layout of this location. ]

Was it just the standees..? Or do you see anything over there, Tama? [ he'll keep going until he either finds something or meets her at the checkout counter. ]

[ doesn't look like there's anything behind the counter, unless tama wants to raid the locked displays. there are some rare collectibles back there!

nothing seems off about the dvds, either! or anything else, really. maybe someone just hates yellow rabbit for some reason. ]

Nothing in the aisles...

[ is there a backroom that they can check? ]

And I don't think there's anything in the shelves, unless I'm blind.

[ looks at the walls, floor, and the ceiling in the back like ? otherwise i guess we can leave? ]

[ tama has acquired an extremely rare figure of white tiger! wao!

there is a back room that is currently locked. mind the sign! employees only! but no, nothing on the walls, floor, or ceiling. you may leave.

what are they doing as they exit the anime store? ]

[ there's no way to smash the back room door open? or do they just not need to do that?

hm. ominous. i hope tama is getting run over. but she'll take a look at the doorway as they're exiting to make sure they didn't miss something obvious on their way in -- and i guess try and get a look at the building in general, for the same reasons once they're outside? ]

[ i mean hung has his tools in his bag, he would be more than willing to break and enter if there were any signs of sabotage on the door.

if there aren't, though, he'll gently curl his fingers in the back of tama's clothes to make sure he can yank her back in the event that something does try to run them over or crush them. if it's just them walking outside though he'll sniff the air to see if there's any weird smells ig. ]

[ i mean, sure, you can break it down if you want to find the lone employee slacking off in there.

tragically, nothing tries to run tama over. that would have been so funny. nothing seems off about the doorway or building, but hung might smell something vaguely... salty? ]

well, tama can't smell anything specific and will remain oblivious until hung mentions it, so i guess it's purikura time. ]

[ WHY ARE YOU HERE IT'S A CRIME SCENE?????

anyways he'll release tama and follow his nose. is the salty smell in the same direction as the purikura booths? ]

it does go in the general direction of the mall, where purikura is. to be exact, though, the smell is coming from... down? from the ground?

maybe from the trail of sand going down sidewalk? ]

Did this lead to the store, or is it leading away?

he's not going to get down on the ground and follow it like that, but hung will take a picture, and then collects some of the sand into an empty remedy bottle. if he smells it down here, carefully so he doesn't get granules up his nose, is there any other smell? or just beach? ]

[ it leads to the purikura! and there is no other smell, so off you gooooooo~~~

we're at the mall now! yay! care to take some pictures while you're here?

maybe put out that fire, first. ]

STOP BEING ON FIRE. ]

[ can she see anything in this fire? is it big? is it just small and localised? ]

Oh - goddamnit! [ is there a fire hydrant nearby? are the fire prinnies on the scene? he'll take a picture of the general damage and everything, but he's going to find the nearest source of fire putting outting. ]

[ the fire prinnies are panicking and useless as usual. you can have an emergency fire hydrant! malls just have those around sometimes so why not.

the fire seems localized to the purikura booths, not too big but enough to be a problem. ]

[ well. she'll grab one too to put out the fire, and as soon as it's out enough to not burn her she's gonna try and get a peek at the booths.

obviously, there is fire damage but-- is there anything suspicious about the outside of the booths? weapons hanging around outside (or the charred remains of), or blood trails...? ]

[ moves the prinnies out of his way with his foot like an inconvenient cat underfoot, and helps to put out the gotdam fire. at least he's done this before.

he'll see if he can borrow some industrial gloves from the truck so that he can reach into the booths if need be, but otherwise he'll use the end of the hose (water off until otherwise needed) to like. push back whatever remains of the curtains on the booths so they can peek in. ]

[ be nice to the fire prinnies. they're about to start a job search.

there's a mess outside of the booths! not a bloody mess, though. there's some kind of powder around the booths, and a mess of photo props and accessories heading away.

inside the booths, hung find that a photo has been left behind. ]

okay well she's. going to pull off one of her gloves and use it to scoop up and store some of the powder for investigation purposes. can she have a gentle sniff through the glove to see if it smells of anything? also, can she see where the accessories are heading? like the direction they seem to be scattered in? ]

[ well.

he's going to reach into the booth to snatch that photo before it suffers any further damage, going to see what it's of. is there anything else in any of the booths? a body? more photos? burnt props? bucky's firearm? ]

[ the powder smells vaguely gunpowdery.

the accessories are heading Away. depending on how good tama's sense of direction is, she may realize it's heading for the konbini.

hung acquires a photo! nothing else appears to be in the booths. ]
