Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your weekly investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

Axel squints at things and begins to creep in anyway. Time to check out the stacks of boxes. Is there like, anything immediately visible that can be seen inside of them? Are they closed? Open? ]

Mn. Be careful not to touch anything with your bare hands.

[ he will let axel be the one to touch boxes if he wants to do that, and snap a picture of the stacks.... what do you mean by stacks? are they stacked tall? are they short? what do you mean by not lined up evenly, like... vertically? horizontally?? does it look like stuff was like hastily stacked back on top of each other??? ]

[They're not super-tall stacks, but a few boxes high. You two can just peer in the top boxes if you want.

Several boxes have been opened and had their contents rummaged through and slightly out of place. Nothing looks stolen though. And two of the boxes seem different from the rest of the opened boxes.

The first of the boxes has a compass in it.

The second of the two boxes has a card inside with writing on the back.]

Huh? Why?

[ Axel was about to touch something with his bare hands. So he looks back at Temenos, confused like.

But he moves on from doing that for the moment.

Is there anything noticeable about the other boxes that had their contents rummaged through, by the way? ]

The kit. [ he lifts his hands and wiggles his fingers. just in case it still has uses! save ryuki's sanity. as long as lowe isn't dead i dont trust anyone.

but otherwise, temenos will go to investigate these two objects - he will carefluly pick up the compass with the edge of his cloak. it's like, weird for a compass to be in this box, right. he takes a picture of it, too - was the compass in there haphazardly, or was it hidden? was it set down nicely?

same question for the card - was it tossed in there, or was it hidden, or set in nicely? also to be clear, does the card have that design AND some writing on it? or does that count as the writing?

or, is the writing handwritten on the back? temenos is frowning. ]

[It doesn't look like either of these objects were thrown in. Just set down.

The writing on both sides is not handwritten, it looks printed off. To get more than that I'm going to direct you to investigate it more at trial, because we're 1 hour in and there's still way more to find here.]

[ Let's get on it, then! Anything else noticeable hanging around besides these boxes?

Because Axel is going to go look around for other stuff that might be sticking out or odd upon more than a single glance. ]

okay thank you for assuaging that fear for me at least. obtained 1+ card and 1+ compass. he will carefully pocket those and then continue investigating. are the boxes themselves just kind of fucked up on the top? (IE: is it the whole stack that's haphazard? or did they just stack two on top of an already set pile?)

is there anything else nearby of interest? there's not as much going on in the description of this location... we're counting on you modchan ]

[The whole stack seems to have been rifled through, but nothing is missing or added to any of the other boxes. The whole stack is haphazard, but there isn't anything else important here beyond "these boxes were rummaged through and are a bit haphazardly stacked".

Not far from the boxes, against one of the walls, are two objects: a filing cabinet and a ladder. So you each can look at one of those next.]

Maybe they forgot?

[ Axel shouldn't really get his hopes up but BOY he sure will anyway. Anyway, time to go check out the ladder!

What's going on with it? ]

and then goes to check the filing cabinet? what the FUCK is a filing cabinet. is it damaged at all? is it locked? how tall is it/how many drawers does it have? is there anything on top of it? ]

[Not much is up with the ladder currently, it's just There. But next to the ladder on the wall is a big number 9, spray painted on the wall.

The filing cabinet is not damages or locked, it's a standard 3-drawer filing cabinet. There is nothing on top of it. Tem can look inside if he wants.]

[ That's fair. His optimism is too high rn.

Anything nearby this 9? Spray color?

Also anything else noticeable in the nearby vicinity while we're at it? ]

[ okay. listen he's a ye olde what do you want

he will take a picture! and with enough fiddling, pop open the filing cabinet drawers one at a time, using the other edge of his cloak to pull them open carefully, one at a time? what've we got in here... ]

[If Axel looks around, he will see more numbers on walls! Going around in a square, the wall to the right of the 9 is a 7, then a 3, then a 4. One number on each wall. All of them in black spray paint.

It seems like the filing cabinet is full of shipping documents! Like, cargo shipping, not uwu shipping. These also appear to be rummaged through.]

[ Weird. So 9734. Wonder what it means? Wait he is going to take a photo of that, because yeah!

Anything hanging around those other numbers by the way? Or anything nearby the square of numbers he should take notice of? ]

[ huh. is it the files in all three drawers? that have been messed up? and what do you mean by rifled through like is it just messy. is there a spot that's messier than any others?

otherwise he's going to A) take a picture! and B) pull out a pair of gloves and go rifling through them, also, carefully.

he's looking for any more objects - feeling if there are any file folders that have any weight to them that they shouldn't, looking for notes or papers that are sticking out, checking the messiest spots to make sure there are no more cards in here. checking each one!! he'll pull the folders out once he's done a very careful look through also to make sure there's nothing else hidden underneath the folders themselves....??? ]

[Nothing is near the numbers except for the ladder near the 9. But the 3 is on the entrance wall above the door, for reference. But he can inspect the ladder if he would like, or continue to look elsewhere for evidence. The warehouse is big and holds many secrets.

I mean someone looked through the files and looked at the papers so they're slightly out of place. Nothing seems to be taken though. And nothing is sticking out of any of them. But since he's taking all of them out and looking through them, one of the shipping info files has a loose piece of paper at the very back. ]

[ Okay Axel will inspect the ladder, like all around it and all that, to see if there is anything else noticeable. After that, he will leave if that behind if there's nothing relevant but also take care to snap photo of said ladder as well.

Anything else hanging around in the general room they're in, or stuff that might be sticking out but is away from the selection of numbers, ladder, filing cabinet? The ceiling looking good? What about the floor too? ]

[Just "looking around" will get Axel nothing of note. This is a 10 foot ladder, he can't see all of it just looking at it as he leans it against the wall.

The paper is for the trial! No reading here, Tem is now illiterate (no).

But since both of them are looking around more, they will see two things at just about the same time:

Tem finds some black drippy spots on the floor.

Axel finds the word "NEWS" spray painted in black on the ceiling. Since Axel is checking the floor and ceiling, he can tell that the word is directly above the black drippy spots on the floor.]

Can this ladder be carefully unfolded somehow? Or like laid on the ground so it can be looked at in its entirety? ]

[ well he'll take a picture. this is paint, isn't it! he will take a picture of the drippy spots and the word above their heads. ]

9, 7, 3, 4, News.

are the ceilings roughly ten feet tall. is there anything disturbed up there? like hanging lights? are there any more mysterious weird paintings around. IS THERE A SPRAY CAN AROUND SOMEWHERE ]

[Axel can lay the ladder down to look at it entirely! I'll give you guys one more tag, so specify exactly where he is looking on this ladder.

The ceilings are a little taller than ten feet, but you could reasonably reach them while standing on the ladder. Possibly. Maybe. There's lights up there but they don't look disturbed. There could be a spray can somewhere but you need to tell me where he's looking!

[ OKAY AXEL IS looking all over the ladder help. The steps, for one thing.

Also does it have the thing that makes some ladders close because he will look there too? It folded, so, yeah.

He will also look at the top of it, and also the bottom, also in-between, like behind its legs, at its sides and stuff, he's going to town here. Anything noticeable? Strange stuff stuck anywhere? Also like underneath the top of the highest step of the ladder?

Also what kind of ladder is this again? Is it colored/painted a certain way too?
