A warm welcome to new heroes!

You wake up in a bed, big enough to fit you, no matter your size. Mind your head as you remove yourself from the bed. Getting out of bed, you see dozens and dozens of identical capsule sized "rooms". It seems like it's just you and the other souls who've only recently arrived.

Your usual outfit is folded neatly in the capsule, and your item from home is set aside in your room. It seems whatever force brought you here decided to put you in a superhero themed kigu (Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc).

The lobby of the hotel is not staffed, but there is a single newspaper found in the seating area. There's not too much to explore outside of the capsule hotel at the moment. Just outside is a wall of vending machines, and everything else is taped off with caution tape and small blue penguin-like creatures telling you not to go any further. "It's dangerous, dood!" These penguins are running around with what look like building materials, ducking underneath the caution tape to start rebuilding an absolutely wrecked city.

One of the creatures stands in front of the hotel, "Welcome to Oceanside City, dood! Take these and don't lose them. Sorry the team leads couldn’t meet you yet, they’re busy..."

They hand you a bag with:

• A smartphone in a case of your team's color, emblazoned with the team's animal
• Change for the vending machines
• A boxed lunch

With that, the creature sends you on your way. Time to get to know your new home.

Oh, I had a guy on my crew like that! He knew all about pirate and pirate stuff, but he was more of a hobbyist about it.

Makes sense. My business as a spiritual consultant occupies me full time, but I find it useful to dabble in other skills. Relying on powers alone is a trap lesser psychics often fall prey to, as I frequently remind my students. If I didn't try my hand at piracy now and again, I'd never have been able to obtain the software necessary to design my website.

Not relying on powers too much is a good lesson. A lot of users don't think about it. [ he doesn't know what a website is. he doesn't ask because there is something else he doesn't know; ] So what does a spiritual consultant do?

Any issue people are having with evil spirits or curses, I'm able to solve that for them.

Huh ... like an exorcism?

Correct. Exorcisms are one of my specialties.

Ohhh. So how does an exorcism work? Do people just call you "I'm possessed" and you show up?

...Usually it's someone else calling on behalf of the possessed person, but that's right. Or a spirit may be haunting a building or an item.

Oh, that makes sense. So then you go and take care of them yourself? No wonder you're so busy.

I'm fortunate to have apprentices who can handle some of the less serious jobs, but the work of mentorship is no easier than performing exorcisms sometimes.
