Mingle
   35 DOODZ REMAIN
A warm welcome to new heroes!

You wake up in a bed, big enough to fit you, no matter your size. Mind your head as you remove yourself from the bed. Getting out of bed, you see dozens and dozens of identical capsule sized "rooms". It seems like it's just you and the other souls who've only recently arrived.

Your usual outfit is folded neatly in the capsule, and your item from home is set aside in your room. It seems whatever force brought you here decided to put you in a superhero themed kigu (Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc).

The lobby of the hotel is not staffed, but there is a single newspaper found in the seating area. There's not too much to explore outside of the capsule hotel at the moment. Just outside is a wall of vending machines, and everything else is taped off with caution tape and small blue penguin-like creatures telling you not to go any further. "It's dangerous, dood!" These penguins are running around with what look like building materials, ducking underneath the caution tape to start rebuilding an absolutely wrecked city.

One of the creatures stands in front of the hotel, "Welcome to Oceanside City, dood! Take these and don't lose them. Sorry the team leads couldn’t meet you yet, they’re busy..."

They hand you a bag with:
  • A smartphone in a case of your team's color, emblazoned with the team's animal
  • Change for the vending machines
  • A boxed lunch
With that, the creature sends you on your way. Time to get to know your new home.
Good morning, and welcome to your intro mingle!

[ .................................. ]

...

Depending on how much you do or don't know, me telling you might not make any difference.

Well. If it helps, I've only ever heard the word 'data' in reference to a scholar gathering research.... and this 'data base'.

[ tapping his rabbit phone. ]

That's... not too far off, I guess. It's that kind of data -- research, or general or whatever, but held in electronic format rather than on paper.

Electronic?

[ help ]

...Like I said. That different worlds theory seems quite plausible, doesn't it?

That, or you're on a serious technology binge and don't want to talk about because you're afraid of relapsing.

[ "porn addict", she assumes. ]

Is that something people do?

[ he's too repressed for that ]

At any rate, the latest in technology where I'm from is the steam engine. Recently, someone fashioned it into something called a locomotive?

Sure is. Everything’s technological nowadays, and some people take their attempts to cut back on screen time to the extreme.

[ “porn addict”, she continues to think because no one can tell her otherwise. ]

….

Huh. Yeah, that’s a good…. 300 years behind where I’m from. We have artificial intelligence technology, and automated systems nowadays. Digital data is stored on multiple platforms and can be encoded and locked for multiple levels of security, and transferred wherever you want it at will.

We do still have trains though. Just… more upgraded.

[ this is a lot of information for someone that would be flavor blasted by eating a dorito ]

...I see. I thought the transportation system was a bit... well, at least in theory, it looked familiar. [ but decidedly less ] How interesting.

[ new goal -- get temenos to eat a dorito. ]

Mmhmm. It's kinda like what I'd expect to see. Same principle as a locomotive, but the technology has advanced.

[ thinks about his last encounter with a locomotive ]

And hopefully in a manner far less contentious. [ partitio would love this place. ] Either way, I imagine there are many parts of my life that won't be replicated so easily, here... it seems there's quite the learning curve.

[ i hope it was exciting but not traumatising. ]

I… guess? It’s all kinda familiar to me, but if you’re from the 1700s then it’s probably a huge culture shock.

[ it was something

he frowns a little at the 1700s because what is a year ]

...Tell me this. Is it common to see magic where you're from?

Uhhh, no? Not unless you’re playing a video game.
