A warm welcome to new heroes!

You wake up in a bed, big enough to fit you, no matter your size. Mind your head as you remove yourself from the bed. Getting out of bed, you see dozens and dozens of identical capsule sized "rooms". It seems like it's just you and the other souls who've only recently arrived.

Your usual outfit is folded neatly in the capsule, and your item from home is set aside in your room. It seems whatever force brought you here decided to put you in a superhero themed kigu (Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc).

The lobby of the hotel is not staffed, but there is a single newspaper found in the seating area. There's not too much to explore outside of the capsule hotel at the moment. Just outside is a wall of vending machines, and everything else is taped off with caution tape and small blue penguin-like creatures telling you not to go any further. "It's dangerous, dood!" These penguins are running around with what look like building materials, ducking underneath the caution tape to start rebuilding an absolutely wrecked city.

One of the creatures stands in front of the hotel, "Welcome to Oceanside City, dood! Take these and don't lose them. Sorry the team leads couldn’t meet you yet, they’re busy..."

They hand you a bag with:

• A smartphone in a case of your team's color, emblazoned with the team's animal
• Change for the vending machines
• A boxed lunch

With that, the creature sends you on your way. Time to get to know your new home.

The huge ones are more fun than the tiny ones.

Because they're more strong, or they're just bigger?

Because they're stronger, most of the time. The stronger they are, the more challenging it is.

[With a few exceptions, really. To her, fighting a Sjødraug is more depressing than exciting because despite their big sizes all you have to do is walk faster than it and let the thing dry up in the sunlight]

Challenging, huh? Sounds like you could get into trouble real fast, though.

What keeps you from getting too over your head? Skill? Or maybe you're the type who usually has got some kind of raw firepower before jumping into battle?

[ Axel has been in a decent amount of fights before. Is he a fight junkie? Well, he'd argue not exactly, but there is an appeal to having a challenging battle...sometimes. ]

Look at me. Do I look to you like I died horribly?

[Being alive says a lot, she's sure!]

I have experience, skill, and great markmanship if I have to do things from a range. I didn't get to be captain because they needed to fill spots and I was available, let me tell you!

[So as long as she has those three things, she'll never be over her head. She knows when it's best to fight and best to retreat, especially when there's a crew to take care of]

Sounds like a neat gig. You know, one someone's gotta have landed themselves in thanks to all that experience. So, you're a Captain of a monster hunting force back home? Is that what your job's all about?

[ An easy guess to make, but one Axel leverages anyway. ]

That's exactly it. Trolls try to kill us all, we fight back by driving them away.

[So cool, so dangerous]

[ Well would you look at that? A combat veteran. ]

That's definitely incentive to beat them up.

Say, anyone responsible for leading these trolls or are they just mindless monsters?

They're a mindless bunch. Not even animals, they're...kinda just fueled by the instinct of mauling everything.

[Pretty tragic, some would say]

...Is there any way to get rid of these guys for good? Like, all of them, all at once?

[ Probably harsh but it's do or die so Axel has no problems asking. ]

Probably not.

[Blunt and direct, that response. But yeah, it probably isn't feasible to just get rid of all those at once, dang]
