A warm welcome to new heroes!

You wake up in a bed, big enough to fit you, no matter your size. Mind your head as you remove yourself from the bed. Getting out of bed, you see dozens and dozens of identical capsule sized "rooms". It seems like it's just you and the other souls who've only recently arrived.

Your usual outfit is folded neatly in the capsule, and your item from home is set aside in your room. It seems whatever force brought you here decided to put you in a superhero themed kigu (Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc).

The lobby of the hotel is not staffed, but there is a single newspaper found in the seating area. There's not too much to explore outside of the capsule hotel at the moment. Just outside is a wall of vending machines, and everything else is taped off with caution tape and small blue penguin-like creatures telling you not to go any further. "It's dangerous, dood!" These penguins are running around with what look like building materials, ducking underneath the caution tape to start rebuilding an absolutely wrecked city.

One of the creatures stands in front of the hotel, "Welcome to Oceanside City, dood! Take these and don't lose them. Sorry the team leads couldn’t meet you yet, they’re busy..."

They hand you a bag with:

• A smartphone in a case of your team's color, emblazoned with the team's animal
• Change for the vending machines
• A boxed lunch

With that, the creature sends you on your way. Time to get to know your new home.

Okay. [ fair enough, really. but he is getting a faint read on her...which means he's still idly kicking his feet, pulling his phone back out to start looking at the profiles again. only occasionally peering over it to glance at her. just kind of ignoring her to see what she does. ]

she eventually gets bored of chewing on his shoes, so she shifts and hops up to peer over his shoulder at the profiles.]

Whatcha looking at.

[resumed]

[ for being a scary dude of darkness, he doesn't seem to care there's a pink kitty crawling all over him now. she can see he's scrolling! however he absolutely has stopped on will's profile and seems to be scanning it. ]

Database. Everyone here must have woken up in the same situation with no idea how this happened. I'd like to know who's around. [ who may be helpful, who may be a threat. you know. as you do when you're kind of a nerd and study stats of people. ]

[i love that you have an icon of a cat crawling on his head, accurate.

she jabs at his phone with her paw.]

Oh, I know that guy. He blew up a soda. [he's the coolest dude here obviously] Wait, they have like, notes on all of us? Am I in --

[a pause.]

Are you in there?

[resumed]

[ yeah it was necessary. he lets her jab his screen because who cares, phones are potentially harbingers of evil, but he sort of...looks very briefly amused to hear that, followed by looking mildly exasperated. ]

Really. And how did he do that? [ gods, will. ] There's notes for everyone here, but I don't know if they're all right to begin with.

[ he heard "us" and "I" and it at least confirms she was kidnapped, too. but he doesn't call her out on it. ]

But yes, I'm in here.

[she kneads at his shoulder absently, staring down at the phone. like sure, she's spilled the beans on having also been kidnapped with that, but it won't stop her from lying about it constantly anyway.

another pause, as she squints at the phone.]

He put tiny explosives in it. [mentos.] What's with the title?

[dr. sunshine...]

[resumed]

[ somehow this is funnier because he's still dressed as pikachu. this is too many bright colors around his person. but it's fine. he will let her lie about it because it's not like he's going to be forthright about stuff either.

case in point: ]

That would cause an explosion, I suppose. [ he can Guess it was the diet coke and mentos trick and he hates that. there's a pause as he looks over the profile again. ] His skills say he has medical training, and healing. That would be the doctor part. And as for the sunshine...the immunity to sunburns likely means he's been associated with the sun a lot. Plus his hair's golden.

[ and it's pretty and glowing just like will himself but nico's keeping his dialogue to himself on that one. ]

It's a guess, at least.

she tilts her head, tail flicking back and forth.] Immunity to sunburns is such a lame power.

Show me yours? [this is genuinely a question, like he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to.]

[resumed]

I don't know. It could be useful if you're in a place that gets a lot of sunshine.

[ but also hm. he pauses because the immediate reaction is "absolutely not." but then again it's obviously very much public! much to his chagrin. he does not like that! and it's not like there's really anything on his that he can disagree with too much. he'd already read it over and most things make sense to him.

so yeah. he will navigate to his own. have at it. ]

[once she reads her own profile she's going to be absolutely furious that it's all public like it is. but for now, she reads his, quietly for once.]

That's one hell of a resume. [the skills section, she means,]

[ the skills section at least is something he's not too uncomfortable with, so there's a little shrug. ]

It's...not quite everything, but it's a lot more than I expected.

[she's fortunately like - cognizant, of things that make people uncomfortable. especially identity stuff, so she's more careful here than she might normally be. she keeps kneading at his pikachu kigu.]

You're super overpowered if you can do all of that stuff at once. Wouldn't osteokinesis fall under necromancy, technically?

[resumed]

[ she's lucky that recently he's gotten used to creatures crawling all over him and he doesn't bother pulling her away from making biscuits on his shoulder. ]

I guess so. [ to being super overpowered. there are a few others who may rival him in terms of abilities and strength, but nico is aware that being a child of one of the big three means he's more op than usual. ] But no, not exactly. Necromancy is for the undead in any form, but it still has to have a form. Full skeletons, zombies, other undead creatures. But osteokinesis would be...you know. Bones by themselves. Being able to control them and shape them. I've had practice with both.

[ he maybe shouldn't be explaining this because going around telling people about your abilities isn't smart, but it's not like he can do them here, and also this is a talking cat, there is obviously some kind of fucky magic going on anyway. ]

[i mean, he could toss her again]

Huh. [this is actually fascinating to her. magic is... well, it's cool. it's a little familiar, in a way. a distant way, like music coming from the other room.]

So does that mean you can make people punch themselves? Does the bone have to be out of the meat?

[resumed]

Usually it has to be by itself, yeah. [ thinks about how he can also just turn people into skeletons if he feels like it. ] I can't really control bones inside a living person. It doesn't work like that.

[sharkgirl]

What's the difference between bones inside a person and bones outside a person...

The flesh binding. [ he's so serious about this. ] I think it has to do with bones being inside a person technically being more alive.

[ which, to him, explains why people like will can normally heal broken bones and such but he doesn't verbalize that. this is really the first time he's had to think about it. ]

[she loves this conversation actually]

Wait so like if you chopped someone's arm off and it wasn't attached to an alive thing could you use the bones then? [makes you think about this]

[resumed]

I could probably reanimate it, yes. [ i'm 90% sure there's an instance of this actually. ] But usually if I'm chopping off someone's arm I'm trying to do something else other than use their bones.

[ like. you know. not die. ]

[sharkgirl]

You could absolutely make their own hand stab them, what do you mean you're trying to do something else?

[VIOLENCE]

Cool... I'm going to learn how to do that.

[resumed]

I mean I'm trying to do something else. [ but he shakes his head. ] It doesn't work that way. You can't learn something like that.

[sharkgirl]

Says you. You're not the boss of me.

[resumed]

[ lifting an eyebrow. ]

I disagree. You really can't learn something like that. At least not where I'm from.

[sharkgirl]

Okaaaay, but obviously we're not from the same place, so again, not the boss of me. [chews on his kigu and leaves little cat teef holes.] Disagree this.

[ there's just a quiet snort. ]

You do know I could still pull you off and throw you again.
