A warm welcome to new heroes!

You wake up in a bed, big enough to fit you, no matter your size. Mind your head as you remove yourself from the bed. Getting out of bed, you see dozens and dozens of identical capsule sized "rooms". It seems like it's just you and the other souls who've only recently arrived.

Your usual outfit is folded neatly in the capsule, and your item from home is set aside in your room. It seems whatever force brought you here decided to put you in a superhero themed kigu (Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc).

The lobby of the hotel is not staffed, but there is a single newspaper found in the seating area. There's not too much to explore outside of the capsule hotel at the moment. Just outside is a wall of vending machines, and everything else is taped off with caution tape and small blue penguin-like creatures telling you not to go any further. "It's dangerous, dood!" These penguins are running around with what look like building materials, ducking underneath the caution tape to start rebuilding an absolutely wrecked city.

One of the creatures stands in front of the hotel, "Welcome to Oceanside City, dood! Take these and don't lose them. Sorry the team leads couldn’t meet you yet, they’re busy..."

They hand you a bag with:

• A smartphone in a case of your team's color, emblazoned with the team's animal
• Change for the vending machines
• A boxed lunch

With that, the creature sends you on your way. Time to get to know your new home.

[ This guy sure seems ... occupied? In a meditative sleep? Or just too chill?

The pose looks kind of strange too. Whatever, Axel's just going to come right on over. ]

because there is absolutely no response to this at all. like none. he is still just. eyes closed, hand near his mouth, unmoving. weird. ]

Huh. This guy really is out of it.

[ Going to try waving a hand in front of a man with his eyes closed. He ain't probably going to notice it, but maybe someone getting closer will compel him to unfreeze himself. ]

Psssst. Hey. Helllooooooo.

If I said this place's about to blow would you wake up now? Or maybe, SHOUTING will get your attention. Am I RIGHT or am I RIGHT?

[ Axel is going to make a game out of trying to wake this guy up now. ]

nothing happens for the entirety of this tag either. even after he shouts! but if axel is patient for just a couple moments longer.... eventually, temenos blinks once, twice, and then seems to come back to reality, opening his eyes - and is faced with A Guy.

a beat. ]

Oh, hello.

[ like nothing happened ] May I help you?

[ He's never seen anyone react so calmly to him being annoying as all hell. Or basically not react at all.

That's a new one. ]

...Yeah.

You didn't hear a single thing I was saying?

[ Just like ???? ]

[inquired]

Not a single bit, I'm afraid.

[ he offers a smile, apologetic, ducking his head a little, even. zen. unbothered. thriving. genuinely, truly, did not hear a single word. ] I do tend to get quite focused when I'm thinking - I've been told it's a terribly bad habit. It's not your fault.

Yeah, sure sounds like a bad habit.

[ Damn, Axel doesn't think he'd be able to even dream of having that much focus. Not that he thinks he would if it'd keep him from being attentive to his surroundings, but to each their own. ]

So, let me guess. Probably thinking about this whole place?

[ There's a lot to think about here. He thinks? ]

[ it is a blessing and a curse or something really stupid. it's hard to tell.

but!! to the question, he gives a little smile and a nod, finally dropping his hands away towards his lap, expression placid if thoughtful. ]

That's correct. It's unusual for me to find a hole in my recollection; I can't seem to recall how I ended up here, no matter how many routes I take, and the context of where I was before doesn't lend itself well to any of this.

Unfortunately, for a thought exercise - I am coming up quite empty on answers.

Well, then you're in (bad) luck! It looks like it's the same for me.

[ Beat, because he realizes he probably should clarify something. ]

Minus the intense thought exercise thing you got going on there.

[ Axel thinks this is all sus and all, but he can't be assed to really freak out about it. ]

But it's not all bad luck. You've got someone like me in the same exact situation. I'm pretty reliable in a pinch, just so you know.

[inquired]

[ there's a beat; temenos blinks, mildly, and then his expression melts into a warm smile. ]

Oh, is that so? How very lucky for me indeed. [ what a nice guy! ] Do you have a name, Mr. Reliable?

The name's Axel. Got it memorized?

[ Heh. He hasn't said that in awhile, and seems entirely far too pleased with himself in saying so. But, anyway... ]

And your name, Lucky Guy?

[ While he's at it. He'll need to properly look through the device at some point. Which he will but proper introductions are always classic. ]

[inquired]

[ hand to heart, a bit loftily ] I shall do my very best.

[ this guy's kind of funny? amused, he will acquiesce to his own new nickname, with a polite dip of his head in greeting. ] My name is Temenos - it's a pleasure. I'd ask you to memorize it as well, but, we do have a repository of information at our fingertips, so I'll forgive if you don't.

[ a little teasing, he continues: ] I do hope it's not a familiarity with being kidnapped that makes you so reliable?

Heh. Don't mind if I do. And don't worry, a guy like me is pretty good at memorizing names. Though, I might just end up calling you just Lucky Tem all the same.

[ That is possibly two new nicknames. Congratulations Temenos! ]

Oh boy. I'm going to have to think about that for a second. [ Jeopardy music plays as he considers his past choices and whether climbing over a wall as well as being Nobodified counts as being kidnapped? Hmmm, he thinks probably not. ] But, nah. Dealing with sketchy situations? That's more up my ally...for better or worse.

There's another bright side, though. Wanna know what that is?

[inquired]

Well. I've had many a nickname, but that's a new one.

[ better than the hound, probably? or at least less insulting? at any rate, he watches axel with utmost fascination, chin propped in his hand where he's sitting. this guy... ]

And what could that bright side be, pray tell? [ temenos is smiling as he says it, voice sweet, eyes a little wide, hanging on every word... though perhaps in he way that suggests he finds this all a little funny. ]

[ It looks to Axel he has an attentive audience member. So, with at least one (or two) exaggerated hand gestures, he continues along... ]

I'm not only reliable, but my cool factor is so up there you can say it's practically explosive.

[ Even if 'cool' isn't exactly someone might associate with explosive...yet judging by the smug look on his face, he looks so proud with himself at this apparent factoid. ]

Anyway, what about you? You any familiar with being kidnapped or being suddenly in—bam!—a dubious situation in a blink of an eye?

[inquired]

[ color him impressed! temenos hums a laugh at axel's Explosive Coolness, deeply, deeply amused, enunciating the syllables in his clear impressment. ] Bright indeed.

[ what a Guy this guy is. truly. what a guy! the lofty air of playing along delight doesn't fade even when he's addressed with a question; temenos clicks his tongue, thinking. actually, when you put it like that... ]

Oh, I've dabbled here and there. Trouble does seem to flock towards me, though I've learned how to handle it perfectly fine. Life is full of unexpected surprises.

[ like short kidnappings ]

[ This guy definitely has a good-natured personality, most certainly confirmed by the evident amusement and impressed tone. And hey, the compliment too. ]

Oh yeah, you can say that again.

I've been through a lot of unexpected surprises myself, and attitude's pretty important. [ Pause. ] And maybe, you know, having some people around to back you up when you're looking a dragon or something in the eye. That kind of helps a lot.

[ But all in all, he's pretty confident the situation isn't the worst by far. Absolutely not. ]

[inquired]

I'd agree. A good team is essential in the face of a dragon.

[ has he ever seen a dragon before? who knows, but he nods very sagely at this very wise statement, hand to his heart. ]

Hopefully, we'll not see too many of those in the future, but should we, I'll be counting on your support, then, teammate mine.

[odoruhinokaze]

[ He moves his hands to put them casually behind his head, but there's definitely a grin. ]

Well, I'm happy to say that'd make two of us then.
