Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your second investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

[Mind palace double check on the perfume kiosk: were all the sample bottles smashed or just a portion of them? Also, is the smell in the back of the shop the same as the perfume in the front? Is it a particular discernible type of perfume (floral, woodsy, whatever, I had to look up a perfume wheel for this)?

He's going to go further in, but watching his feet because where is all this perfume getting flung around...

Is there a back room or area? What's it look like in there?]

[ A whole word went missing there. It's only a few sample bottles that are broken.

Hung can have gift bags to collect the broken sample bottles with or he can use one of the poop pick-up bags from the pet store for extra protection against scent.

Hans can't pick up anything discernible from where he is, but if he continues to the back of the store where all the crates and kennels are, he will find something that could be described as a horror show. There's a large kennel that looks like someone broke out of. Hans can also spot with his peepers what looks to be a chain collar and large tie-out leash. The kennel is broken apart and partially collapsed. ]

[ he will double baggy tbh so that he doesn't have to worry about the smell leaking out or any further smells. because he's about to sneeze if he doesn't get away from it.

but he'll bag up all the broken sample bottles in as close a match as he can in a limited amount of time, and then stick those in a poop pick-up bag.

is there anything at the cash register/checkout counter that's off, in the pet store? while hans is looking over at the kennels and whatnot over there. thanks for linking from petco and not chewy i appreciate whoever did this. ]

[ Sliding in here real quick to confirm nothing is up with the cash register/checkout counter. He won't find anything at the front of the store. ]

Is it. Someone or something, is there anything on the kennel to show what broke out like claw or...... finger..... marks.... Hm. Any blood? Where is the chain collar and leash, inside the kennel or outside?

Also, is it possible to peek inside the kennel to check the state of the interior without moving anything? And is the perfume scent coming from this?]

[ The leash is inside of the kennel while the collar is around the door to lock it shut. If he's looking carefully, he can spot some claw marks on the inside of the kennel from whatever broke out.

While there isn't blood or anything like that, there is a tuft of pink fur.

The perfume scent is coming from inside of the kennel! While investigating the kennel, Hans can see there is a motion detector camera pointed at the kennel itself. ]

if there's nothing here, he'll follow his nose. is there a particular trail that the perfume makes through the store? before it hits the kennel? is there any access to the security cameras or employee only area that the camera might be hooked up to? ]

Well, first of all he’s going to motion to Hung about the motion detector camera because like. He can see that it is pointed here and that it is camera-shaped but that is where his perception score begins and ends.]

I’m guessin’ that’s a camera but they ain’t all that reliable nights like the last, is what I’m told.

[Shrug?? The camera is up to you, buddy.

What size are the claw marks, how deep are they, are they all towards the front of the kennel? Also, fur examination... does this look anything like cat fur? Otherwise we’ll have to do some more furensics.]

[ There doesn't seem to be anything that the camera will hook up to! It looks like one of those kind that sends a live feed to your phone. If he's examining it further, he will see that the set-up was never finished. There's instructions for it left on the ground close by.

The perfume seems to just be strong at the cage itself, and there may be a faint whiff of it heading out of the of the store, but that's all he'll be able to find.

There is also a wire looped around the kennel itself. If they follow that, they will find a box for an electrical fence, but it doesn't look like it was finished with set-up either. The instructions are also found beside the box.

Hans being an avid fan of cats can tell that the fur doesn't look like it belongs to a cat. As for the marks... well, he might need to wait for tomorrow to find out further. ]

[ well. hung follows the indication, and frowns when he finds the instructions. but he'll take a picture of everything as it is without touching it, taking a few more close up ones of the kennel, the electric fence, the camera. if he's tall enough, can he reach up and grab the camera? ]

I've got my gloves, Hans, so I can handle anything we find without getting our hands all over it if we need. I don't think this got anything recorded - or, if it did, we're not going to be able to access it.

[ he is not super thrilled with the connotations of the electric fence hooked up to the kennel, to be honest here. ]

Looks like somebody 'round here was tryin' real hard to keep somethin' in.

[Oddly un-murderlike, if you think about it and the lack of blood around the place, unless someone out there bleeds perfume (probably not). Hans contemplates the setup with some curiosity but eventually goes back to examining the kennel -- how exactly is it broken apart? Are the leash and collar still intact? If the door is still collared shut, did whatever was in here go out a side or?

Also, he's clawmark-illiterate for now but he'll shuffle to the side a little in case Hung wants to handle anything or reach into the kennel or something.]

Hrmeow... Cameras really ain't that useful. [murder 101 mistaken for camera 101] But if ya wanna look around the inside o' this thing with yer gloves.

[Feel free! He's looking over the fur, since it's not cat -- what's the texture, length, size of the tuft? Is it clean?]

[ The camera isn't high up or anything. It's just perched on a shelf and aimed at the kennel! They can grab it.

As for the fur... well.

The kennel will look like it's been broken out of from the inside. It's been broken apart and partially collapsed. The collar is still in tact, as it's holding the door locked. ]

[ takes the camera and its instructions, before coming over to check on the kennel. ]

Sure, I got it. [ he's trying not to focus on this, he's trying really hard because he doesn't want to think of the implications right now, as an animal person. instead, he crouches down to check the collar. is there any blood?

making sure he takes a picture of it, and then checking where the damages are where the prisoner broke out. is it busted wires? or a broken side? can he check for blood, torn clothes, hair, fur, etc on that area? and collect anything there while also checking inside.

if he has to undo the collar to do this ig he will also do that. ] Let's make sure we grab everything before we leave, including the electric fence stuff.

Meow, seems like it's mostly back here, so shouldn't be missin' anything.

While Hung is poking around the kennel, Hans will make another sweep of the back area to make sure they haven't missed anything, any more fur or damage. He'll double check the electric fence box in case, I don't know, there's a scrap of paper or something in there. You never know.

Once he's done with that round, he'll start collecting the stuff they need to bring back.]

[ There isn't anything more to find at the store. The wires aren't broken on the kennel. They are free to take the kennel, paper instructions, and everything else back with them to check it over at trial tomorrow. ]
