Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your second investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

[ no, he's checking out this whole hall! like i said, he came from the pet store and looked at everything along the way, and he's looking at everything along the destruction path. and if that's all covered, he can check out the rest of the mall where there ISN'T blatant destruction too.

where else can we look? outside the kitchen store? the purikura booths? the movie theater? he will look around outside all of these and anything else i'm unaware of that isn't listed on the mall locations for anything that stands out? ]

the window looks like it was broken from the outside. kind of like if you throw a baseball through the window? so it's not totally shattered, but there's a decently-sized hole in it. outside, she can see... the parking lot! wow.

adlet, digging through the books, will find several books, including the children's animal encyclopedia! most of them look fine, except for the paperbacks being bent and pages ruffled, but this one has something in it?

datz follows the mess back towards the entrance! nothing seems to go toward any particular store; it's all just in the hallway as if someone was moving fast. along the way, he'll notice a few more odd things on the floor, scattered among the standard mall items. ]

[Is anything else burnt or damaged around here, looking at the things making up this mess, or is it just the one crispy thing? Does anything else stand out amidst the mess?]

[ score! what's in this book? he'll be careful not to touch the object directly first. ]

[ ok! he is looking closely at everything around here, so what are these odd things he's noticing? he'll take pictures of all of them first. ]

[ some of the books are a little crisp around the edges, but nothing else of note appears to be affected.

whatever it is looks to be pretty embedded in there... but if he looks closely, adlet can tell that it's a bullet!

as he digs around, datz will find... an arrow! and another arrow! they are not super far apart. a little further down, he'll find what looks like a bullet. ]

[Hm! Okay, she'll step away from here and take a look around the rest of the store. Anything on the walls or at the checkout counter that stick out?]

[ his ye olde hasn't failed him! okay, he'll take that bullet out by ripping a spare page out of one of the other books first so he's not touching it directly.

does he know what fingerprints are??? debatable, but the strongest man in the world is cautious so this is what you get. he's gonna need to ask for help on identifying bullet characteristics later, but that's fine.

is there any blood on the bullet, or the book for that matter? ]

[ by "a little further down" do you mean the bullet is more toward the mall entrance, with the arrows closer to the bookstore? can anything be inferred about what direction it was fired from in terms of like, which way it's oriented after landing or whatever? is it actually embedded in anything or just sitting on the floor like it fell there?

where is the entrance relative to the stores we have listed in locations, btw? like, what is the shape of this mall? (if you want to just come back with this part at the end of invest so i'm not slowing things down that's cool!) ]

[ there may be a little bit of a scorch mark on the wall near the window, just on the edge of the radius rita already inspected. nothing seems off about the other walls or checkout counter.

no blood on adlet's bullet and the book itself looks fine.

datz can enter his mind palace and realize that the mods did not think that hard about mall architecture, i'm sorry. we don't have mall blueprints it is just a mall.

but yes, the arrows are a little closer to the bookstore, the bullet a bit farther away, toward the entrance. the arrows aren't embedded in anything, nor is the bullet, but he can tell that the bullet is bloody and that the mess keeps going. ]

[How big are these scorch marks -- the one on the wall and the one on the floor? Is there any shape to them?]

[ okay, well he's pocketing the bullet carefully for now:

a last spot check where he found the bullet, was the bullet placed into the book like a bookmark, or was it embedded into the book like it was lodged there? ]

[ the mess keeps going to... the entrance, you mean...? can he go check the doorway to see if anything's up out there? ]

[ the scorch mark isn't too big and is more of a radial shape.

it goes toward the entrance, yes. along the way, datz finds... another arrow!! it's near the bullet.

near the entrance, he'll see something sticking out of the trash can. ]

We've got like five minutes, so Rita's going to take a walk deeper into the store -- anything else stick out, besides the places we already looked at? Down the other aisles, on the shelves, on the floor anywhere? Datz can go dig in the trash, that's cool it's all his.]

[ ok well he's grabbing all these arrows and bullets after once again taking pictures to document how they're oriented!

what's sticking out of the trash can, he'll take a picture of that too and probably grab it unless it's like a gigantic shard of jagged glass or something but it's 8:59 so ig he's going for it and will also check for anything else that might be buried in the trash, he's a sewer guy, it's fine ]

adlet cannot determine the bullet's trajectory other than it being lodged in the book.

from the trash, a set of clothes! they are in bad shape, torn and bloody. the rest is only trash.
