Early Friday morning, our heroes awaken to the moon setting, and finally, the freedom to leave the locations they fell asleep in the night before. It's a normal morning... if you ignore the sirens echoing through the city streets.

Police and prinnies have gathered in certain locations. With the sight of heroes giving them hope, they call upon you for help in searching for evidence, that we may all learn what happened on Thursday night.

So what are you waiting for? The investigation is yours.

Welcome, heroes, to your second investigation!

We will be posting top-levels for locations to be searched - one set at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST and the second at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Each block will run for two hours during which characters can search the locations for evidence related to the events of Thursday night, and each location will have something to find. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

Once the two hours are up - at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST for block one and 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST for block two - threads will no longer receive mod tags and the investigation will conclude for the night. Whether you find everything is up to you, but don't worry if you don't! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9 PM EST / 6PM PST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).

breaking news

For a third time this city has been thrown into chaos by violence and death. Two more heroes-in-training have perished overnight: Morning Star, who was found at the Halloween store, and Everbloom Violet, who was found at the police station. There was quite a commotion in the mall as well, with the bookstore, knife store, pet store, and the kiosks in the hall being reported to be in disarray.

The mall had just reopened this week, and citizens are shocked and saddened to see these crimes committed in a place of community gathering. Many citizens report feeling too frightened to go out until the villain responsible for all of this is caught.

These crimes show signs of being a villain attack, and the police are leaving it to the heroes to find the villain once more.

What's the goss?

Recently, Afterlife set up a fortune-telling service, and it seems results are already promising. The hero Defiant Dragon was told that his match would be someone kind, laidback, and yet stubborn—and lately he's been seen getting along suspiciously well with fellow hero Sigreat. Although they could simply be hanging out as friends, word has it that Defiant Dragon has been ordering an abnormal amount of clothes and fussing over his fashion. Might there be someone he's dressing up for?

Allegedly, Flame Ghost has somehow managed to spend all of his hero funds and is testing out new business ideas to make money. His first idea was prinny wrestling, which was then discarded out of embarrassment after he lost to one.

[ hung is very aware of the irony of him coming here. don't worry. he knows. but he's still heading through the mall and keeping an eye out for stuff. what state is the exterior of the pet supplies store at the moment? is this going to be a pee wee herman kind of situation where the place is on fire and we have to save pets? ]

[Hans just likes to hang out here, but also he may in fact be concerned for fellow furry friends! He's talking about the cats, sorry Hung, you're clearly not a zombie dog right now.

While Hung is checking out the exterior he'll stick his head in and take quick stock of the interior, assuming it's not on fire or exploded or something.]

[OKAY, WELL. she is here and she is looking around wearily. is there anything immediately off about the store at a glance...? anything right outside?]

[ There is zero enthusiasm in this greeting. He is not surprised they woke up to sirens but he is still annoyed about it.

[ This is his first week doing investigation (yay!), and his expression reads as unpleasant. What concern he has is hidden behind the furrow of his brows, lips pressed tightly together. ]

But also how is the outside of the building looking? Is there any damages to the exterior; windows, doors, steps leading to the building, etc. ]

[ There's nothing right outside of this store. Looking inside, it looks like there's been an altercation here, pots, pans, and heavy cast iron wares were knocked to the ground.

This place is in disarray. ]

[ They will both see and smell something off immediately before even reaching the pet store. There is a perfume kiosk just outside of the pet store with a sample bottles broken on the ground. The scent is pretty strong. Hopefully they don't step into any of the mess, especially with Hung's nose!

Nothing is wrong with the face of the store or the door.

Hans won't find anything on fire or exploded inside of the store. A quick look around will show nothing is missing or standing out at the front of the store. ]

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway, because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

she stares at her hands and goes take a look at all the stuff knocked to the ground, like nothing happened.

hello, anything hiding under this mess? any blood or trails leading out of the store, since she's looking at the floor already.]

... How interesting. Perhaps this will be a sign to improve the law enforcement...? [ boy it sounds like temenos doesn't believe that. ] It's best not to leave a single stone unturned, lest we scramble tomorrow, though I've a strong feeling not a single person in this place will be helpful. Not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed.

[ temenos gives vane a nudge with the staff of judgement to point in the general direction of the police station, pats a prinny on the head and then ducks on over to the caution tape.

important: is the station on fire. otherwise! is there anything to the exterior of the police station - gardens, hedges, a flagpole, a sign, or anything on the path below their feet? is there a walkway up or just like, doors...? ]

Anyway. Boy is he glad he got his kitchen shopping in during the week already. Ponta is going to look at the ceiling and the windows - did everyone leave through the door this time? ]

There's some hedges, and there's both a ramp up to the front door, and stairs. Accessibility! (Who wants to go to the police?)

Taking the front entrance, nothing of the exterior seems damaged. ]

brings up the muffler he usually wears around his neck and covers his nose with it, as he takes his phone out and takes a picture of the disarray of the kiosk. he'll avoid stepping in anything as best he can, but is there any blood? anything that doesn't belong there, like a weapon or something thrown in there in general to have broken things? ]

[ Looking underneath the mess, Saya will find a bunch of spices all around, along with the containers that they'd usually be in.

There's no trail that leads out of the store.

Looking at the ceiling and the windows, they're still intact. Whoever fought here had the decency not to break any windows. How... kind...? ]

[Wrinkling his nose at the smell, but he has a normal nose, so godspeed Hung.]

[He still forgets to use his phone at least 70% of the time and the other 30% is like Modern Tech 101 QWOP version with some variation but it's all good. He's just here with his eyeballs. Just going to check the kiosk itself for any damage before leaving it to Hung's high-tech investigation and slinking inside.

Front of the store, check? Checks the ceiling. Do any of the animals seem skittish or missing or unusual as he gets further in?]

Anyway, is there anything that seems suspicious upon a first glance around the entrance of the station? Is the ceiling okay? Do we have a floor? I hope for damage. ]

Hans eyeballs will behold nothing up on the ceiling. The animals seem to be their usual selves and don't seem to notice anything wrong. As he gets further in the back, he may pick up the strong smell of perfume coming from the back even with his non-doggo nose. ]
