Sunday morning starts off quietly enough, almost peaceful after the events of the past few days. Today, the alarm on everyone's phone starts at 12 PM, with a reminder of the execution to take place at 1 PM at the stadium. Unlike the Saturday notifications, however, this is the only reminder you get. It appears that attendance is not mandatory this time.

Well. Not for all of you, anyway. One of you feels a compulsion to head to the stadium, heading straight inside and following the staff to ready themselves for what's to come. All others who arrive at the stadium, hero or civilian, are led to spectator seating.

As the clock strikes 1 PM, Mika walks into the arena. On the opposite end of the field, Temenos steps out to greet them. As long as they both live, neither will able to leave the area, nor will any outsiders be able to enter.

You don't have to watch, of course. That's your choice. But with the event being broadcast all over the city, it may be hard to avoid. In-person or across town, everywhere is buzzing with gossip of the newly discovered villain about to face justice. Regardless of where you go or whether you choose to watch, the only thing to do now is wait.

Crimes aren't meant to be simple, or easy to digest. But this spectacle is...

[ Yeah...yeah, there's the sinking feeling in his gut. He's seen a lot of things, but a public execution? Man. ]

Nah, it isn't.

But here it is, being shown to the public like it's some kinda routine piece of entertainment.

The only reasons for that would be... humiliation, or to make a point. But-- there can't be a need for it, unless they're running scared of something?

[ but to take it out on the people they apparently brought here? ]

[ Will she even get her last rites...

Anyways, he's lending an ear to that speculation. Humiliation does seem like a stretch. A point possibly closer, but the last makes him think for a second. ]

Running scared, huh? What d'you think that'd be?

To keep something from happening?

... Look, I hate this. But there must be a reason why they're doing it.

[ IT SUCKS BUT. ]

It can't have come out of nowhere, it's just... knowing what that reason was, and why the response was this extreme. I refuse to believe that reason is worth keeping it though.

Oh, no no. Don't get me wrong, I was thinking along the same lines that there's gotta be something else to it.

Problem is, we don't know what that something could be, am I right?

[ But no problem speculating, as far as he's concerned, so why not figure potential possibilities to help guide them to knowing what questions to ask? He's not really a detective-investigative type. Yet solving problems isn't exactly too far removed to past job-related activities. ]

Knowing whatever else behind this including the why could keep us from being up there ourselves. And keep it from happening again...though, it's kinda hard to tell right now what it might be.

We're lacking in information. That's the main thing, isn't it? We only know what people tell us, what the leaders are willing or able to tell us, and what little we can glean from the papers.

[ overall, they know so little about this city. ]

[ Watching with a frown as the execution proceedings are...well, coming closer to a close? ]

Exactly. But, I'm sure if there's enough effort to get more information...we could all end up with something.

It's always about asking the right people. Looking in the right places. We're a bit stuck right now, limited as we are, but we're not useless.
